Different Tooling For Different Groove
Sep 01, 2020
Here is a new aluminum part from milling.
For the old design, there is a little space between the groove to the thick edge.
So we can use the short tooling with a bigger milling depth.
But for new design, the groove it is close to the thick edge, and we must use the longer tooling.
It makes the tooling easily broken as the strengh is much less.
Also we can only use the 2.5mm milling tooling to do the 2.5mm groove.
That means we need to make the tooling vertical during the production.
Any slight move will hurt the milling tooling and also the part. So the milling will be very slow.
For your reference, the rough milling we can do 3-4mm thick, the presiced milling depth can be 0.8mm.
But for this groove we can only do at most 0.1mm thick.
Welcome to send us your drawing, we are happy to offer the idea from production.
